LILI - Learning Information Library

"Your innovative access to learning resources for education

Lili supports the sharing of digital resources in the Teaching Education Community. Lili is part of the EU co-funded project Share.TEC project which aims to create a digital environment that fosters access, retrieval and reuse of resources for Teacher Education across Europe.

The intended users of the system are teacher educators, teachers engaged in self-guided learning and flexible learning as well as developers and publishers of digital resources for TE.

GIVE

• Lili creates possibilities for users to share their knowledge and digital resources and contributes to a comprehensive database collection of teacher education resources
• Lili will contribute to the Share.TEC project towards an extendible federated aggregation of resources, providing access both to the partner's own content and to other TE repositories.
• Users of the system will be able to search and retrieve resources which have been produced and made available by other users.

USE

• User involvement is an essential feature of Lili and Share.TEC. The project idea is to establish a network of user communities that will continue beyond project completion, thus attaining sustainability.
• The vision is that digital resources are driving forces in educational innovation processes which can help build bridges among the different cultures of the member states."

Europeana: think culture

Europeana.eu is about ideas and inspiration. It links people to 6 million digital items:

• Images - paintings, drawings, maps, photos and pictures of museum objects;
• Texts - books, newspapers, letters, diaries and archival papers;
• Sounds - music and spoken word from cylinders, tapes, discs and radio broadcasts;
• Videos - films, newsreels and TV broadcasts.

Some of these are world famous, others are hidden treasures from Europe's museums and galleries, archives, libraries, and audio-visual collections. Europeana connects to a list of organisations from which the content comes from. Included is the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam as well as the British Library in London and the Louvre in Paris.

People can use My Europeana to save searches or bookmark things, or can highlight stuff and add it to their own folders.

The Europeana website is a prototype. Europeana Version 1.0 is being developed and will launch in 2010 with links to over 10 million digital objects.Europeana.eu is funded by the European Commission and the member states.

KULTURPOOL

Der Kulturpool bietet einen zentralen Zugang zu digitalisierten österreichischen Kulturerbe-Ressourcen. Mithilfe des Kulturpools können Museen, Bibliotheken und Archive übergreifend durchsucht und im Detail erforscht werden. Der Kulturpool wird funktional und inhaltlich ständig erweitert. So entstehen zielgruppenspezifische Funktionalitäten und sukzessive werden weitere Quellen an den Kulturpool angeschlossen.

Kulturinstitutionen im Kulturpool: Albertina, Imareal, Kunsthistorisches Museum, Museum für Völkerkunde, Österreichisches Theatermuseum, Österreichische Mediathek, Naturhistorisches Museum.

Online Gallery - Turning the Pages

So lautet die Aufforderung der British Library, ihre virtuellen Bücher zu durchstöbern. Beeindruckend ist die Aufmachung der digitalen Buchpräsentation. Neben der Möglichkeit, sich die einzelnen Seiten durch virtuelles Blättern anzuschauen, können Details mittels eines Vergrößerungsglases angeschaut werden. Wer zusätzliche Informationen wünscht, findet neben Audiodateien zum anhören auch Textinformationen zum nachlesen. Die Qualität der Digitalisate ist hervorragend. Für jeden Liebhaber alter Schriften ist die Online Gallery der British Library ein Muss - auch ich habe mich beinahe in den virtuellen Büchern verloren.

Anmerkung: Um in den Genuss dieser online Bibliothek kommen zu können, muss der neue Shockwave Player installiert werden. Wer schon auf dem neusten Stand ist, kann gleich loslegen.
