Diese Liste war Teil der Literaturliste der im vergangenen Semester am Lehrstuhl für Ostasiatische Kunst (Kunsthistorisches Institut, UZH) stattgefundenen Übung. Sie soll nun auch hier verfügbar sein:

Studierende setzen sich für das Museum für Volkskunde Burgdorf ein

Im Burgdorfer Museum für Völkerkunde befinden sich Kunst- und Alltagsobjekte aus Ostasien, deren Zukunft ungewiss ist. Sie entstammen der Sammlung Heinrich Schiffmann. Studierende der Universität Zürich versuchen nun gemeinsam mit Prof. Hans B. Thomsen (Lehrstuhl Kunstgeschichte Ostasiens, Kunsthistorisches Institut, UZH) diese Sammlung zu retten. Derzeit werden die Objekte auf dem Dachboden der Schule gelagert. Der Raum ist jedoch aufgrund der Luftfeuchtigkeit und der Temperaturschwankungen ungeeignet. Die Kuratorinnen wurden vom Verein, der das Museum betreibt, aufgrund der Neuorganisation der Mussen im Schloss Burgdorf gekündigt. Ohne diese Fachkräfte - so befürchten die Studierenden - könnte die Sammlung vernachlässigt, sogar aufgelöst werden. Das wäre sehr schade, stellt die Sammlung doch ein Stück Burgdorfer Geschichte dar und ist auch historisch sehr wertvoll. Die Studierenden haben sich deshalb dazu entschlossen, die Sammlung zu retten.

METMEDIA - (East) Asian Art Videos

The Metropolitan Museum of Art offers a lot of multimedia content about (East) Asian Art. You find there Podcasts, interactive content, and videos. The videos can be browsed by collections. There are more than 20 videos about Asian Art. Moreover, the MET holds a numerous collection of Asian Art, which can be browsed online.

• American Museum of Natural History: Asian Ethnographic Collection
  Featuring more than 44,000 objects from the AMNH's Asian Ethnographic Collection. Find objects by culture or country, and filter results to see only objects currently on view at the AMNH. Label information only; no descriptions.  

• Art Gallery of Greater Victoria: ARTBase
  The Art Gallery has "the most comprehensive collection of Japanese art in Canada," and thousands of objects from this collection appear in this online database, along with a large collection of Chinese art and smaller collections of Korean and Vietnamese art. Excellent zoom feature for all objects.

Koger Collection - Web App about Mythic Creatures

For the exhibition Mythic Creatures of China in the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art a Web App with TourSphere was developed.

The exhibition presents 93 objects and "aims to explore the symbolism behind animal motifs popular in Chinese ceramics throughout the ages. The objects included in this exhibition are part of a gift to the Ringling Museum from Ira and Nancy Koger and range from the third century BCE to the 19th century. The expansive chronology of the works points to the enduring nature of animal symbolism so deeply ingrained in Chinese visual culture." [Mythic Creatures]
